The Parish Council owns and is responsible for a large Recreation Ground. Officially called the Queen Elizabeth II Field – River Recreation Ground, it is now protected by a Deed of Dedication as an outdoor space for recreation.

This is a venue for organised sports (such as football, tennis and bowling), casual recreation and play.

The ground is the home of Dover Rangers Colts Football Club, River Bowling Club and River Originals Tennis Club as well as regular Sunday League football matches.

Improvement Programme:

The Parish Council has a project to improve the facilities and make the ground more attractive to more local people. During 2015, an outdoor table tennis table, basketball hoop and picnic benches were installed.
The next phase involves new outdoor gym equipment, a new junior play area and a revamped toddler play area. Applications for funding are now being submitted and local people will have the chance to comment on the plans.

Community Events:

The Recreation Ground is also the venue for community events organised by the events committee. In 2016, a special event was organised on Thursday 21st April to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday. The annual Country Fayre will take place on Sunday 10th July. Information on all events is available on the events committee web page, on facebook and on the parish council blog.

Any enquiries about the Recreation Ground should be made to the Parish Clerk. Contact details are at the top of the page, on the right, in the sidebar.
