The Parish Council owns and is responsible for a large Recreation Ground. Officially called the Queen Elizabeth II Field – River Recreation Ground, it is now protected by a Deed of Dedication as an outdoor space for recreation.

This is a venue for organised sports (such as football, tennis and bowling), casual recreation and play.

The ground is the home of River Bowling Club and River Originals Tennis Club.

Improvement Programme:

The Parish Council had a project to improve the facilities and make the ground attractive to more local people. During 2015, an outdoor table tennis table, basketball hoop and picnic benches were installed.
This was followed by new outdoor gym equipment, a new junior play area and a revamped toddler play area.

Community Events:

The Recreation Ground is also the venue for community events organised by the events committee. Such as a special event was organised on Thursday 21st April 2016 to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday. The annual Summer Fete takes in July.

Information on all events is available on the events committee web page, on facebook and on the parish council blog.

Any enquiries about the Recreation Ground should be made to the Parish Clerk. Contact details are at the top of the page, on the right, in the sidebar.
